Manual therapy.

Our physiotherapy treatments are based upon manual therapy and we spend the entire treatment 1 on 1 with our patients. We treat our patients with gentle and precise techniques and are highly skilled in the use of joint mobilisation, myofascial release, visceral manipulation, dry needling, cupping and exercise to achieve the best outcomes for our patients. We treat your sore necks and backs, sprains and strains and address all of your niggles from head to toe.

Pilates assessments.

For all Pilates class participants that are new to the studio we do 45 minute Pilates Pre-Screen. In this assessment our physios will gather a thorough medical history and assess any chinks in the armour. We then consult with your Pilates instructor to develop goals and a specific program based upon your assessment. However, if you have a complex medical case we recommend a Pilates Initial Physio Consultation. With these assessments we will send you on your merry way with a couple of exercises so you can hit the ground running at your first class.

Pregnancy.

We specialise in the treatment of pregnant women with pelvis and low back pain. We have a plethora of effective manual treatments to use during pregnancy and know exactly how to restore a pregnant woman’s mobility and decrease her pain with treatment instead of simply sending them home with a pelvic belt and a few exercises. Pelvis and low back pain during pregnancy is absolutely treatable and we are passionate about spreading the message that pain in pregnancy is not normal. OB’s appreciate us a lot and refer often because they know we can help you. The proof is in our results.

Pelvic floor & incontinence.

Do you have urgency or have bladder leakage? We are trained in the assessment and rehabilitation of the pelvic floor and incontinence for both women and men. We are also unique in our pelvic floor treatment as we use visceral manipulation as an adjunct to traditional pelvic floor physio to ensure that the pelvic organs can move as they should to function properly and not cause undue pressure on the pelvic floor. Heads up, visceral (organ) treatment is extremely important after C-section, prostatectomy, laparoscopy or any abdominal surgery for that matter. We recommend you book in for a 60min Consult initially to ensure we have time to take your complete medical history before starting treatment.

Reformer.

Gee we love the Reformer because it makes you feel bullet-proof when you finish a class. Even though the name sounds scary, don’t sweat it. Reformer is a fab piece of equipment for the Pilates virgin as well as the gym junkie. The Pilates reformer uses a spring loaded base to challenge your body’s strength and balance while you perform precise movements. There are hundreds of exercises to do on the Reformer and we will fine-tune your reformer sesh exactly to your ability. The beauty is, you’re also in a class of supportive peeps while totally doing your own thing. However, if you want a private or semi-private class we’ve also got you covered.

Mat.

When Joe Pilates realised not everyone would have access to one of his Reformers he evolved his exercises to create Pilates mat. Pilates mat has all of the juiciness of Reformer Pilates but you’ll do it on a mat while using small apparatus like balls, foam rollers, bands or magic circles. Pilates mat at BBPilates+physio is not one size fits all. We know your bod, we know what you can and cannot do and we modify exercises for you as needed. Your Pilates instructors will remember which knee is your tricky one, that you slouch like a teenager when you drive or that you are a desk potato by day. They’ll work with your body because that’s our style.

Private Reformer.

Do you need a little more help getting started or do you just want the privacy of a 1:1 class with your own teacher? Well Private Reformer is the bees knees for kick starting your Pilates career and this environment gives you the individualised attention you need. These sessions are 45 minutes and can be booked online with one of our instructors. Go you!

Prenatal Mat.

BBPilates is the specialist in prenatal Pilates. We know all of the things your pregnant pelvis needs to stay strong and we know how to keep those abdominals from separating. At BBPilates we’ve taken out all of the exercises that aggravate pelvis and low back pain and replaced them with the perfect combination of core strengthening and baby belly ab work. Our prenatal exercises are so safe they’ve even been made into an online program called Body Beyond Birth and are endorsed by leading obstetricians.

Online Studio - Body Beyond Birth.

After a baby we know that it can be super hard to get to a physical Pilates class. And when you are pregnant, it can be exhausting to drag yourself to a Prenatal Pilates class after a long day at work. That’s why we created our ONLINE PILATES STUDIO for pregnant and postpartum women called Body Beyond Birth. This online Pilates studio has the exact exercises we perform in our physical studio but you can access them 24/7 online in 20 minute little bites of Pilates juiciness. Body Beyond Birth has the added bonus of physiotherapy tutorials on the pelvic floor, abdominal separation, baby feeding positions and more. And there is the added bonus of nutritional advice and healthy whole food recipes to keep you on track when nutritional mindfulness seems like a distant memory. Body Beyond Birth is also a fabulous complement to classes you take in our studio as you’ll get a little extra somethin’ somethin’ every day if you want to fast track your post baby and pregnancy fitness from the comfort of your home.

Mums & Bubs.

If you can’t get out of the house to exercise without a little baby buddy in tow, the Mums & Bubs Pilates Mat Class at BBPilates will help you get ‘er done! We will tighten and tone that mummy tummy and get your core rockin’ again and we don’t mind if your baby is wriggling around the studio while you do it. This class is as good for the body as it is for the soul because you’ll be hanging out with a group of mummies just as yummy as you. And do not stress… if you can’t quite steal away from home yet but want to get your post baby body healed at home, check out our online studio called Body Beyond Birth. Please note this class is only for babies that aren’t on the move yet.
